simulation tools in 3D

Production Prototyping

Module software allows the development of critical processes in parallel to design. Other companies do a POP, SYMPHONI™ offers something that is much closer to production.

SYMPHONI standard design modules provide the flexibility of accelerating design and build of process-critical stations ahead of the full machine in order to test full production tooling and processes on single modules. This achieves shortened timelines and reduced project risks.

Improved efficiency, reduced costs

In a typical Engineer-To-Order (ETO) assembly automation project, customers have to wait until the entire machine is fully designed and integrated before they can get data on their critical assembly processes using production quality equipment. Machine providers will build a scaled-down representation of the production tooling as a Proof of Principles (POP) to test critical processes; however, the differences in the POP tooling relative to the production equipment is often the cause of inconsistent results on the final equipment.

Touch tooling and the machine operation sequencing using SYMPHONI simulation tools are not just models—they are based on the actual machine configuration and will demonstrate how the system will function in full 3D animation. You’ll see the machine operation before any fabrication takes place.

Digital Twin versus SYMPHONI Simulation

The Sonata™ cell is designed for low-volume production; hand-loaded parts are automatically assembled enabling for R&D testing and validation. This mechanical simulation mitigates risk, simplifies validation, and reduces time-to-market by making your POP as close to final production as possible.

Ideal for:

  • Process development
  • POPs
  • Clinical trials
  • Low-volume production

SYMPHONI’s advanced control system powers the differentiating throughput in a small footprint.

Implementing and maintaining a SYMPHONI system is accomplished with both physical and digital tools. Critical processes and entire stations can be digitally simulated using detailed mechanical design, actual motion configurations, and real-time coordination.

  • Mechanical design used
  • PLC configuration/motion profiles used
  • Detailed station timing
  • Detailed mechanical positioning and interferences
  • Full visualization of position, velocity, acceleration, jerk, snap
  • Fully able to resolve interferences, profiles

The pressure for results in a short timeframe presents challenges, but also opportunities to incorporate market proven, world class manufacturing technologies to meet present and future demands.

ATS has made targeted investments to support manufacturers to meet demand through investments in people, technology, and facilities.
